The OHMazing® Way is our
membership program for families
This training sessions is an introduction to the theories and practices associated with teaching yoga to youth in more less-formal educational settings including museums and festivals. We will discuss characteristics of how the intersections of yoga, art and music are meaningful for our bodies, hearts and minds;

Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® is a research-based, trilingual, mindfulness and yoga program designed to empower people of all ages to make OHMazing® choices for their bodies, minds and hearts on and off the yoga mat. Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® was founded in 2008 by Elizabeth B. Reese, PhD, E-RYT, RCYT, when she realized that integrating yoga and mindfulness into the lives of her children was benefitting not only her family, but also having an empowering ripple effect on her community.

I have been fortunate to attend three modules of Yogiños trainings. Each weekend is full of information on how to best serve all children on and off the mat and share the gift of yoga and mindful movement, thought and action. The Yogiños Tween and Teen training module armed me with information about the changes that are bombarding tweens and teens’ anatomies, and prepared me to create asana sequences appropriate for their changing bodies. Current research on neuroplasticity in the brain, from various experts including nationally-renowned brain researcher Daniel Siegel, was interwoven throughout the entire workshop, as well as the benefits of yoga during this tumultuous time for tweens and teens. During workshops, we not only acquire knowledge and teaching tools, but are also able to enact these new skills with group teaching and interactions with partners—putting theory into immediate practice within a warm and welcoming community. At the end of a weekend, it is difficult to say goodbye, but I always know that we are all working together, no matter what corner of the universe in which we live, to pave a mindful path for all children. The students love the Yogiños materials, especially the music and asana choreography. In fact, one mom was telling me this week their family takes out mats every evening before bedtime so their daughter can teach them what she's learned that day!
Yoga is an excellent muscle toner, increases flexibility and can calm the nervous system. There's no reason these benefits should be enjoyed only by adults, so I strongly endorse Beth Reese's programs - they bring yoga to children in an easy, accessible format. The fact that she leads sessions in a world-class museum, surrounded by great works of ancient Indian and Asian art, makes them all the more enriching and valuable.
Yogiños founder, Beth Reese does a fabulous job of intertwining yoga poses with the stories and includes clear alignment cues such as root to rise, hug the mid-line and shoulder blades on your back, thereby teaching body awareness and mindful practice of the poses.

We love this video. It’s eclectic with an amazing mix of yoga poses, the fascinating story of Ganesha, and the experience of yoga for a child’s point of view. The art is appealing, the cultural values are present. Sharing the asanas (postures) in three languages is truly a gift, it obvious the children are enjoying themselves. I highly recommend this DVD, to parents and kids to do together to explore the wonderful world of yoga.
