Mindful and OHMazing® Strategies for Students and Teachers (MOSST) by Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® is a program that provides preK-12 teachers and parents tools and techniques toward successful self-regulation. MOSST also provides individuals and groups skills to improve transitions and other challenges including sensory-overload in any environment.

In partnership with Yoga on the Brazos, YYY offers this 6-hour Continuing Education in-service for $90 (payment plans available). Letʼs work together to teach youth how to make OHMazing® choices. Some schools may accept these 6 hours of training as CEUs.

MOSST In-Services/Retreats explore:

~ Evidence-based self-regulation tools and techniques for teachers and students;
~ Fun, engaging, interactive demonstrations, discussions, and activities with Yogiños: Yoga for Youth® founder Elizabeth Reese, Ph.D., E-RYT, RCYT:
~ Discussions and activities about successful classroom transitions, team-building, cooperation,anti-bullying, and tolerance;
~ Foundational theories and practices for teaching mindfulness to families and youth of all ages in a variety of settings, especially schools.

Why mindfulness in the classroom?

Current brain, academic, and cardiovascular research
provide evidence that practices related specifically
to mindfulness and yoga and its breathing techniques offer:
~ 27% increase in GABA levels (calmness, anti-anxiety);
~ Improved academic achievement through learning how to improve focus and handle stress;
~ Increased academic interest through integrated
movement in traditionally sedentary academic settings.

What do we know specifically about MOSST based on research?
~ In all of the 4-20 week studies, students increased in physical flexibility, strength and abilities to regulate anxiety and energy levels;
~ Teachers experienced students handling stress and self-regulating themselves in more mindful, peaceful ways;
~ Parents witnessed kids cultivating calmer and more relaxed responses to stressful situations.
