Yogiños: Yoga for Youth, Read to Lead and the Art Center of Corpus Christi are pleased to announce the national debut of an interactive, bilingual Reading Heroes exhibition. Reading Heroes opens May 10 at the Art Center of Corpus Christi. Through art, video, and movement, young readers and learners—reading heroes themselves—learn how to use yoga poses and breathing practices to handle anxiety and stress associated with reading, learning new subjects and activities, as well as test-taking. Kyla and Carlos, the title characters of the beloved Kyla & Carlos book series, demonstrate yoga poses that are linked with six key skills that children can cultivate to become Reading Heroes: Patience, Focus, Courage, Support, Calm, and Pride.
The exhibition includes bilingual banners illustrating the yoga poses, a bilingual video featuring Kyla, Carlos, and several Reading Heroes demonstrating the yoga poses, and support guides for parents. Reading Heroes is part of a concurrent series of exhibitions highlighting children’s book illustrations including the Art of Dr. Seuss.
